Serving Up School Lunch
We know that students who eat well, learn better. Our Development Chefs have worked alongside a renowned dietitian, to develop a school menu packed with brain friendly nutrients.
These dishes incorporate flavours which are popular amongst students as well as being simple for catering teams to deliver.
The menu is all HFSS compliant and the food dishes have green and amber nutritional traffic lights, meaning they aren’t classified as ‘high’ in fat, saturates, sugars or salt.
Take inspiration from our Brain Food Menu and find full recipes for each dish on our Recipe Hub.

Iron supports cognitive function but plant sources are better absorbed when paired with vitamin C. Include sources like, beans and lentils with peppers or citrus fruits.

Fish offers nutrients crucial for brain health, such as iodine and omega-3 fats. Regularly serve a variety of fish dishes.

Dehydration can impair focus and mood. Milk is an excellent drink option, providing calcium for nerve function, iodine for cognition, and B vitamins for the nervous system.

Foods like wholemeal bread, oats, and brown rice provide a steady release of energy, B vitamins that support psychological function, and help students feel fuller longer.

Skipping meals can lead to hunger, irritability, tiredness, and poor concentration, affecting students' behaviour and performance. Offer and promote nutritious breakfasts and snacks to keep them energised.

For our healthier take on this classic Scottish dessert, we’ve used yoghurt and soft cheese instead of cream. Raspberries and oats are both a natural source of fibre, providing the perfect sweet treat to end a meal!

In this recipe we’ve used Bran Flakes to increase the fibre content, while reducing refined sugar and saturated fat. Perfect for school desserts or breakfast time!

To increase the fibre content of a classic Chicken pasta bake, we’ve included 50% Quorn pieces in this recipe which have 7g of fibre per 100g compared to chicken which contains no fibre. We’ve also used wholewheat pasta and added peppers and courgettes to boost nutrients.

This pasta bake uses wholewheat pasta and a mix of beef and Quorn mince to increase the fibre content. We pre-prep our own tomato base sauce using seasonal vegetables to pack in more nutrients.

This recipe uses a mix of beef and Quorn mince, alongside red lentils, to increase the fibre content. The variety of beans and added sweetcorn further increase nutrients.

This school lunch dish is easy to deliver and can be made allergen free! Sweet potatoes and mixed beans are a great way to provide students with more variety while still offering a meal they enjoy.
