Directions For Use Before Cooking For Best Results rinse rice thoroughly in a sieve under cold running water. For a softer grain soak for 30 minutes in measured water. Choose any ONE of these cooking methods. If cooking Brown Basmati for the first time we would suggest method one. 250g (8oz) of uncooked rice will serve 4 generous portions. (Please follow either metric or imperial but do not mix the two._x000D_ _x000D_ 1. OPEN PAN METHOD Put 250g (8oz) rice in a large saucepan with about 1.25 litres (2½ pints) of boiling water. Return to a medium boil, stir and cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse in a sieve with more boiling water, then serve._x000D_ _x000D_ 2. COVERED PAN METHOD Put 250g (8oz) rice in a medium saucepan with 450ml (¾ pint) water. Bring to the boil, stir, cover with a tight lid, and simmer very gently without disturbing for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow pan to stand for 5 minutes, then serve._x000D_ _x000D_ 3. MICROWAVE METHOD Put 250g (8oz) rice in a deep microwave dish with 450ml (¾ pint) water. Cover and cook on HIGH for 6 minutes, stir then on DEFROST for 6 to 8 minutes. Stand for 5 minutes, then serve._x000D_ _x000D_ 4. MICROWAVE METHOD (b) Put 250g (300ml) rice in a deep microwave dish with 500ml boiling water. Cover with cling film allowing a tiny vent to the side, do not pierce. Cook on HIGH (750W) for 6 minutes or 7 minutes (650W) then on medium (350W) for 10 minutes. Stand for 5 minutes, fork through, then serve._x000D_ _x000D_ 5. COMBINED METHOD Ideal for cooking rice ahead of other dishes first boil rice according to method 1, but only for 7 minutes. Drain in a sieve and rinse well with cold water. Drain well again. Transfer to a microwaveable bowl, put to one side until required. To reheat, cover and cook in a microwave oven on HIGH for 3 4 minutes._x000D_ _x000D_ TIMINGS ARE FOR 650 WATT OVEN. ADJUST OVENS WITH DIFFERENT OUTPUTS ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERS‘ INSTRUCTION._x000D_ _x000D_ Finally after cooking, if preferred season lightly according to taste and fork through with a little melted butter or oil. (Applies to all cooking methods.)
