Andrew Hodgson, Client Manager at CGA

Andy will kick off the webinar by setting the scene for the out-of-home market, providing insights into consumer sentiment as the hospitality industry reopens, an overview of market performance plus some of the headlines from CGA's Business Leaders 2021 Report. 


Dr Hazel Gowland BA, PGCE, MREHIS, FIFST, FRSPH

Hazel is a food allergy advocate, expert patient/consumer, researcher, consultant and trainer who shaped the Anaphylaxis Campaign from its foundation in 1994. She lectures on Allergy, Human Nutrition and Public Analyst Masters programmes. Current studies include the quality of life and cost of living with food allergy, and on-going epidemiological work to understand and record severe and fatal reactions and the regulatory and forensic context of food allergy.

Hazel will be breaking down the new regulation and the actions that operators need to take to ensure they are effectively managing allergens, giving specific examples of Pre-Packed for Direct Sale products and explaining the new requirements for labels. Hazel will also provide an overview of allergens within the UK to allow operators to understand how many of their customers Natasha's Law will help.


Professor Louise Manning

Professor of Agri-food and Supply Chain Security, at the Royal Agricultural University, Louise has worked in the agri-food supply chain for over 35 years in a range of roles. 

Her expertise is in the area of food security and food integrity including food safety, food quality, food crime, policy and governance, social and corporate responsibility, resilience, risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Louise has carried out projects for government bodies and companies throughout Europe and Africa. This work includes strategic risk analysis and mitigation for both corporate organisations and public bodies. 

Louise will discuss the ethical and practical issues surrounding operators as they aim to manage allergens, harnessing her vast wealth of knowledge to ensure operators understand the importance of allergen management. 


Rosie Ward, Technical and Product Data Manager at Creed Foodservice

Rosie manages the Data team within Creed which main responsibilities are managing product data like product allergens, nutritionals and dietary information.  The Data team collates this information and uploads it into several platforms including Saffron and our online ordering system.

The Data team also are in charge of product images and descriptions that appear on the online ordering site, a key touchpoint for our customers who are seeking out accurate allergen detail of our products. 

Rosie will outline how Creed manage allergens within the supply chain, including the communication of allergen information and the impact of recipe/ingredient changes on our customers.
