As a Drivers Mate at Creed you will support a driver on a heavy route with vehicle checks, unloading and delivery while providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with safety legislation and company procedures.
Some responsibilities of the role include:
Examine the vehicle before setting off, to check the load is safe.
Organise the load in the vehicle, taking account of the delivery order and making sure that items are easily accessible.
Support the transport and customer service team by providing updates on the route when required.
Check all of the items are accounted for against delivery sheets.
Support route planning and advise the driver of any diversions.
Unload goods at the delivery point.
Obtain delivery signatures from customers and support the accurate completion of all documentation (VC40, Temperature Records, Debrief).
To report any accidents or near misses.
To support the Driver in carrying out all daily checks and vehicle cleaning.
To promote the company and do everything possible to enhance the company’s image through appearance and behaviour.
To ensure vehicle and freezer are fuelled.
The Ideal Candidate:
To be eligible for this position you must be aged between 16 and 24, currently claiming Universal Credit and referred to us by your employability support officer.
It is essential that you have the following:
Positive ‘can do’ attitude.
Desire to learn new skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Friendly positive attitude.
Physically fit, able to lift heavy items and manage roll cages on rough terrain.
Experience in a physically challenging role would be advantageous.
Ideally you will want to progress in a career as a Driver and open to opportunities to gain a Certificate of Professional Competance and your Class 2 Licence, this role will provide you with the perfect basis for progressing in this career.
