The Challenge

As a home from home for many of the 400 students, some of whom are international, an employer of 200 staff and a thriving venue for events, conferences and residential courses, the provision of high quality catering is essential and expected. So too is a nutritionally balanced menu that caters for all preferences, nationalities and special dietary requirements. Anita Fisher, Catering Manager, and her team offer a full catering service, serving a range of meals from light refreshments to formal dinners with full waitress service.

The Solution

Anita works closely with our team to provide around 600 hot meals a day for students and staff, as well as a bespoke catering service for the school’s functions business.A large menu which is changed on a five-week cycle offers students and staff a varied range of food from fully cooked and continental breakfasts, fresh fish, salads, tapas and home-made yogurts, plus new ideas such as ‘street food’.Rob Owen, our Executive Development Chef, supports Anita with menu development and product tasting whenever required. The school has three bistros, forming its newly refurbished dining room – opened by Prue Leith, no less – serving a range of menus to suit different tastes.For the boarders at Malvern St James, school is home, so they’re offered the kind of food that they would expect to eat with their families. We help source products that make the difference, such as WOW butter, nut-free peanut-tasting butter eradicating any potential allergen issues.Anita is confident that our partnership and our use of local suppliers, especially for meat, has contributed to the school being awarded a Gold Healthier Choices Food Award.

“Creed has been a great support in menu development. I get many ideas from food magazines and recipes books, then Rob Owen, Creed’s Executive Development Chef, helps me take a recipe inspiration and ‘scale up’ for a catering operation and adapt for a school clientele. I also attended a street food workshop at Creed which explored ways to introduce emerging trends into our menus, without compromising on nutritional value.We source our meat from Creed and, to be honest, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The variety and quality of cuts is second to none and accreditations such as Red Tractor give me confidence in the meat I am purchasing.
