What's in Season June

June has come around so quickly this year! Summer is such a lovely time, and it brings the opportunity for fresh British produce to be displayed and utilised in menus to its full potential. Let’s take a look at what we have in season this month …

Broccoli

Commonly referred by many as mini trees, this vegetable makes a common appearance on many dishes, particularly roasts. You must be careful to avoid over cooking - the best way is to steam is so that it maintains its bright green colour and slightly crunchy texture, this way it will ensure that you are also able to get the most nutrients out of it.

This week we are now moving over to our supply of new season English broccoli, so be sure to add this to cart the next time you are on the website.

Blueberries

This highly nutritious superfood  is perfect for summer. When cooked, blueberries release lots of juices and can make them a versatile addition to many dishes such as tarts, cakes and crumbles or even in savoury dishes such a blueberry glazed pork pies and salads. Make an easy blueberry jam by cooking the berries in some water and a splash of sugar. When out of season, dried blueberries are great to sprinkle such as when used in breakfasts.

Blackberries

Another berry that is in season this month are blackberries. These dark berries can add a lovely deep purple colour to many dishes such when used in breakfasts, infused into refreshing summer drinks and of course desserts !  Blackberries also work well in savoury dishes when paired with game meat for the sweet tough to a hearty roast.
