Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 DOE

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Contracted hours: 40 hours per week (5 days out of 7)

Working Days: Monday to Friday

Shift Pattern: 8.30am to 5pm with a 30 minute break for lunch.

Role details:

Within this role you will generate the management accounts for a c. £70mil + Turnover business. You will take ownership of the operational areas of the business and will need to get to know the level of operations and build relationships with key stakeholders in Transport, Logistics, Warehouse and Operations.

Some responsibilities of the role include: 

  • To prepare and produce the management accounts including accruals, pre-payments and analysis.
  • Complete the weekly Operational P&L and attend the weekly Operations meeting
  • Review all direct cost centres by checking to the budget / forecast reporting on variances as appropriate.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets for the Operational departments
  • Be responsible for the Commercial vehicle’s leases
  • Review and actioning of the insurance for Commercial vehicles to ensure correctness of cover and updating of Vehicle Insurance Motor Database
  • Liaise with the Operations team to ensure that reviews and forecasts are complete and in line with Operations requirements
  • Analysis and calculation of KPIs for the Operations team.
  • Liaise with the purchase ledger team to ensure any issues are resolved.
  • Analysis and calculation of KPIs for the Operations team.
  • Preparing and submitting HMRC Statistics and Intrastat
  • Generate ideas for efficiencies for the department.
  • Business partnering with your defined area of expertise within the business.
  • To ensure that all reports are accurate and timely.
  • To drive forward and improve reporting processes and timescales.

The Ideal Candidate:

To be successful within this role you will need to be able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders in operations and the ability to produce accurate and timely Management Accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.

It is essential that you have the following: 

  • Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Relationship building, Stakeholder Management and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and analytic ability.
  • Completed CIMA Operational level or equivalent.
  • Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and the desire and ability to identify, suggest and implement process improvements.
  • Experience working in Management Accounts.
  • Ideally you will have experience business partnering in an operations environment.
