When’s a new potato in season? How long is the rhubarb season? When do English apples appear?
To answer these questions, and many more, Creed Foodservice has introduced a new ‘seasons’ calendar to help caterers make the most of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads.
The ‘at a glance’ calendar clearly indicates when produce is in season, helping to make menu planning easier.
The calendar also notes where fresh produce is sourced from, if it’s not in season in the UK. For example if you have asparagus on your menu, you can see that it will be in season in the UK between late April and the end of June – outside that time it will be sourced from South America– and you may want to adjust your menu to something in season more locally.
Steve Creed, Director for Fresh Produce at Creed Foodservice says: “ Our suppliers are always asking us when items are in season and we are finding that this is being taken into consideration for menu planning more and more. The seasonality calendar makes planning easier.”
