Caterers get a taste for speciality and local food
at the Mise en Place re-launch

To re-launch speciality food wholesaler, Mise en Place, producers from Gloucestershire and surrounding counties are invited to showcase their food and drink at Cirencester’s Royal Agricultural College on 25th June, 2008.

Creed Catering Supplies bought Mise en Place in May 2008 as part of its strategic expansion, and means Creed now offers its customers a range of excellent quality fruit and vegetables, as well as speciality and local foods, available for next-day delivery, six days a week.

The event will recreate the look and feel of a traditional farmers’ market, and producers of some of the region’s finest food and drink have the opportunity to promote speciality and local produce to Mise en Place and Creed Catering Supplies customers including pubs, restaurants, leisure clubs, schools, garden centres and nursing homes.

Stall-holders include Cotswold Fish and Game, Woodchester Fine Foods and Hobbs House Bakery who will be inviting visitors to taste their food and drink.  There will also be a four-piece jazz band and the opportunity to enjoy a bite to eat from the barbecue and sample the Royal Agricultural College’s own Muddy Wellies beer.

Over the past 10 years, Stephen Wheeler, sales and operations director of Mise en Place, has witnessed a significant increase in the demand for this type of food.

Stephen said:  “Where our food comes from is becoming more and more important to chefs, restaurateurs and diners.  Working with often smaller, local and speciality producers means we can deliver tasty, quality food and drink, produced locally, to restaurants, pubs, hotels and cafes across the region.”

Chris Creed, managing director, Creed Catering Supplies said:  “Some of the best food in the country is made by producers, right here on our doorstep. The Mise en Place range means our customers can now source everything they need from us, knowing that it will be delivered on time and in perfect condition.”
